Whole school
Scholastic Book Orders

One of the best gifts a parent can give a child is the love of good books. Each year at Montmorency South Primary School we participate in Scholastic Book Club. Although there are eight issues that Scholastic provide we only run four.  Sometimes we will add an extra issue near Christmas.  As a parent, however, you can go on the Scholastic website at any time and browse each issue when it comes through and organise it to be delivered to your home if it is one we are not running.

Attached you will find all the information on how to register for the LOOP payment platform that you will need to order books.  The books will take approximately two weeks to arrive at school after the closed due date of Friday March 15. Each order helps earn free books for our school, however there is never any obligation to buy.

If you are buying books for your child as a present, please email me on if you would like me to hold them temporarily in my office for you. If I am not advised, when the books come in they will go straight to your child’s classroom.

Orders can only be made via the LOOP.
Visit or download the app in App Store for iPad/ iPhone or find it on Google Play for Android..

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me in person or by the above email address.

Thank you

Relay for Life
Quintin, Max and Joel together with their older siblings Savannah, Harry and Felix (ex students, now year 7) were on the front cover of the Leader Newspaper two weeks ago promoting the Relay for life on 23rd/24th of March 2019.

There will be a Guinness book of records attempt of "the most people to apply sunscreen at a relay".

Quintin, Max and Joel would love for their school mates or class mates to be part of this weekend with them.  Contact Brigitte on 0418957710 or  or sign up online at the Diamond Valley Relay for life.
There will be games, a jumping castle, face painting, henna tattoos, music, dancing, food & drinks, a silent auctions and a relay course.

YouTube warning
One of our Education Support staff, Jakk Walsh, has brought to our attention a video that has made its way into Australia YouTube videos.  This video pops up in kids YouTube videos and encourages them to do harmful things to themselves by saying they will hurt the child’s family if they don’t do it.  This has led to a few suicidal incidents overseas. La Trobe Communication Clinic – Phonological Awareness for Literacy
La Trobe would like to invite eligible families to register for their PAL Clinic.
What is the PAL Clinic?

The PAL program was developed at the University of Queensland to be run by speech pathology students under the supervision of qualified speech pathologist. The program is strongly based on research. La Trobe Communication Clinic has been running the PAL program since 2004.
The aims of the program at La Trobe are to:
• Improve a child’s phonological awareness skills including identifying sounds in words, breaking up words into individual sounds, combining sounds into words
• Improve the child's ability to know which letters make which sounds
• Help children to understand the relationship between phonological awareness skills, letter-sound knowledge, word reading and word spelling.
Please find attached details of the program and how instruction on how to register.
