District Athletics – Tues 3rd September

42 students will be representing MSPS at the District Athletics Carnival which will be taking place on Tues 3rd of September.  Please note that there will be a training session this Wed 28th August 4pm at Willinda Park, for the relay teams, long jump and triple jump.  We ask parents to please transport their children to and from this training.

Superhero Day – Monday 2nd September

Muscular Dystrophy’s National superhero week is next week, September 2-8.  Our very own Jayden Mackay (year 5) is one of the Muscular Dystrophy’s National faces and will be featured in the Herald Sun during the week in cartoon form.  Furthermore, Channel 7’s Sunrise will be here to cover the event and to interview Jayden, his family and friends on Monday 2nd September.

We know there is lots on at the moment but we would like to ask the Yr 3-6 students to support Jayden in this role by dressing up as their favourite super hero on Monday 2nd of September. Please bring a gold coin donation on the day.

Scholastic Book order

Scholastic book brochure will be sent home early this week.   The books will take approximately two weeks to arrive at school after the closed due date of Tuesday 3rd September. Each order helps earn free books for our school, however there is never any obligation to buy.

If you are buying books for your child as a present, please email me on iob.clare.e@edumail.vic.gov.au if you would like me to hold them temporarily in my office for you. If I am not advised, when the books come in they will go straight to your child’s classroom.

Orders can only be made via the LOOP.
Visit scholastic.com.au/LOOP or download the app in App Store for iPad/ iPhone or find it on Google Play for Android..

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me via email.
I am very sorry for the short notice as  I was unwell last week and was unable to send out the brochures.  I need to allow at least two weeks for delivery before school holidays start. Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you
Clare Iob
Librarian

eSmart Week 1-7 September

Next week is eSmart Week which is an initiative run by the Alannah and Madeline Foundation which aims to create an Australia that is free from cyber bullying, with digital citizens who know how to embrace the best that technology can offer, whilst being smart, safe and responsible online.
While Cyber Safety and being responsible online is discussed throughout the year as the need arises, we will be participating in eSmart Week and each class will complete lessons on topics such as privacy, passwords, sharing images, cyber bullying, digital footprint etc.

Here is a link to the eSafety website which offers advice on helping your child have safe and enjoyable experiences online.

We have also attached a document with some tips around screen time at home.
