Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open and Montmorency South Primary School is excited to be participating.
The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition; but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by 6 September 2019.

Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers. Children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read 15 books.

All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.

To read the Premier’s letter to parents, view the booklists and for more information about the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge, visit: www.education.vic.gov.au/prc

There will not be an online honour roll as in previous years, therefore there will be no consent required.

Go fund me – Jayden Mackay

Hi lovely Montmorency South families.  You have probably seen our boy Jayden cruising around school in his blue wheelchair.   As some of you know, Jayden was diagnosed two years ago with congenital myasthenia, a genetic and progressive muscular disease.
Jayden has his own Facebook page to bring awareness about CMS and showing people what it is like to be a 10 yr old boy living with it.

https://www.facebook.com/boywithCMS/

We have also started a gofundme page to help fund an assistance dog which will help him conquer day to day life living with CMS.  Our little family is very excited to help Jayden and welcome this very special puppy into our hearts.  Please consider checking out his gofundme page:

Thank you

Local event/talk – “The decline in nature play and rise in sensory issues”

Eco Explorers is running a local event on Thurs 28 March.
They have been lucky enough to secure an International Keynote Speaker to speak locally in Eltham, Angela Hanscom, who is a highly regarded Paediatric Occupational Therapist, and author of best-selling book "Balanced and Barefoot".

Angela will be speaking on a topic that she has been researching and writing about for many years, "The decline in nature play and rise in sensory issues." Angela is visiting Victoria for 3 days for a Conference, and this will be her only public talk and Q&A for parents, carers, educators and child health practitioners.

You can book your tickets here. https://www.ecoexplorers.com.au/events-programs/eco-explorers-presents-angela-hanscom-author-of-balanced-barefoot/
